4-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga
Discover the magic of southern Morocco on this unforgettable 3–4 day journey from Marrakech to the golden dunes of Merzouga. Travel through breathtaking mountain landscapes, ancient kasbahs, and lush valleys before reaching the heart of the Sahara Desert.
Day 1:
Marrakech – Ouarzazate
Your adventure begins early in the morning as we depart from Marrakech, crossing the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters). Along the way, you will enjoy stunning panoramic views and traditional Berber villages overlooking the mountain slopes.
We then visit Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous filming locations in Morocco. After exploring this historic fortress, we continue our journey to Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” There, you will visit the Atlas Studios and the magnificent Taourirt Kasbah before spending the night in a comfortable riad or hotel.
Day 2:
Ouarzazate – Dades Valley – Tinghir – Merzouga
After breakfast, we head toward the desert, passing through the Valley of Roses in Kelaat M’Gouna, famous for its annual Rose Festival and beautiful landscapes.
We continue our journey through the dramatic Dades Valley and the Tinerhir Oasis, where we explore the stunning Todra Gorge, with its towering cliffs rising up to 300 meters — a true paradise for climbers and photographers.
In the afternoon, the scenery changes as we approach Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Dinner and overnight stay will be in a traditional desert riad near the sand dunes.
Day 3:
Merzouga Desert Adventure
This day is entirely dedicated to experiencing the beauty and tranquility of the desert.
After breakfast, enjoy exciting activities such as quad biking, sandboarding, or simply relaxing and taking in the vast golden sand dunes.
In the late afternoon, your private camel ride begins — a magical journey across the dunes to witness one of the most spectacular sunsets in Morocco.
You will spend the night in a luxury desert camp, where you will enjoy a traditional dinner, Berber music, and an unforgettable stargazing experience under the clear desert sky.
Day 4 (Optional):
Nomad Experience & 4x4 Excursion
For those who add an extra day, you will discover true desert life on a 4×4 excursion. We visit nomadic families who live in the desert, learn about their traditions, and explore hidden desert landscapes, oases, and fossil-rich areas.
After lunch, we return to Merzouga or begin the drive back to Marrakech.
