6 Days — Desert Escape: From Tangier to the Sahara
Travel from Morocco’s northern coast to the golden dunes of Merzouga. This 6-day adventure blends the beauty of Chefchaouen and Fes with the thrill of the Sahara — camel rides, desert sunsets, and Berber hospitality under the stars.
Day 1:
Tangier ➜ Tetouan ➜ Chefchaouen
Depart from Tangier early morning.
Visit Tetouan, then drive through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen.
Explore the medina, Kasbah, and mountain views.
Overnight in Chefchaouen.
Day 2:
Chefchaouen ➜ Meknes ➜ Fes
Leave Chefchaouen for Meknes; short stops for sightseeing.
Continue to Fes, arriving in the afternoon.
Visit the ancient gates and enjoy the local evening vibe.
Overnight in Fes.
Day 3:
Fes ➜ Ifrane ➜ Midelt ➜ Merzouga
Morning departure from Fes, heading south through Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland of Morocco.”
Stop at Azrou’s cedar forest to see the Barbary monkeys.
Continue through Midelt (lunch stop) and the Ziz Valley, famous for its lush palm groves.
Arrive in Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara Desert.
Camel ride into the dunes at sunset, dinner and live Berber music under the stars.
Overnight in a desert camp.
Day 4:
Explore the Desert
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes.
Breakfast in the camp, then explore the area by 4×4: visit Khamlia Village, home of Gnaoua musicians, and nomadic families.
Lunch at a local restaurant near the dunes.
Try optional activities like sandboarding or quad biking.
Return to camp or hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5:
Merzouga ➜ Midelt ➜ Fes
After breakfast, start your return north, passing through Errachidia and Midelt.
Stop for lunch and enjoy the changing landscapes of mountains and oases.
Arrive in Fes in the evening. Overnight in your riad.
Day 6:
Fes ➜ Tangier
Breakfast, then depart to Tangier via Chefchaouen or the Rif Mountains route.
Arrival in Tangier in the afternoon — end of the tour.
